Our apologies for the silence. Winter seemed to skip Spring and turn directly to Summer. I can't believe it's already June! We have some exciting news in store. Farmhouse Etc may be opening it's own store in July! Stay tuned for more info on that. We are still working out details on the space (which would be located in Rochester, NH).

Winter on the Farm

Love winter on the farm in New Hampshire! 

Sunshine (the pony) likes to stand outside while it snows, even though she is free to come and go from the barn as she wishes.  So, in the morning after a storm, her thick coat is covered in snow like this.  She loves it!

Holiday Craft Fair

Our Holiday Craft Fair at the Somersworth High School was a big success!  Thank you to everyone that stopped by to see us :)  We were very excited to see how many repeat customers we had from our last event.  And, we had so much fun making all the new items we brought!  We had so much stuff it was hard to find places for it all!  But, somehow we managed.  Take a look at how our space looked this time.

Treasure Hunting...and "The New Guy"

Check out all the great finds we discovered at a Flea Market we went to on Sunday!  We had so much fun.
Our day started around 7AM with a stop at Calefs Country Store in Barrington -- we had to get our maple squares!  Can't shop without maple squares!  Then, off to the Flea Market.  Doors had opened to the general public for about a half hour before we arrived...it was so packed that we had to park over a quarter mile away!  So many good deals; so little time -- trying to get there before the next guy.  Items ranged from 10 cents to 300 dollars...you name it, they had it.  Here are some of the Farmhouse items we found.  Come see us at the Holiday Craft Fair on Dec 4th at the Somersworth High School to see the finished product!

We bought this End Table from a guy who we think was new to the whole "flea market" thing.  He wasn't exactly what you'd call a "master negotiator"!  So picture this, when we saw the end table among other ordinary household/yardsale items, it had no price on it.  I said to mom "I wonder what he's asking for that".  In my mind I was thinking we might get it for about $5 considering the rest of the table.  Mom says to the man "what do you want for the end table".  The guy was so excited we were asking and responded "make me an offer, I don't want to have to take that thing home".  Mom says " will you take $10?"  The guy just about leaped over the table saying "Sold!!!"  Apparently I gave the what-did-you-do-face because she looked at me and said "is that OK?  What did you have in mind".  I said quietly "I was thinking $5".  Then to my surprise she says to the guy "will you take $5?" right after she'd already offered to pay $10!  Just as excited as before he said "Sure!!!" and, as if we hadn't pressed our luck enough.  Then we had him hold it, along with a pile of other things we bought at other booths so we wouldn't have to carry it around!  What a nice guy!  He made our day.  We had a few good laughs about that one.  We figure he must be new!



These old books were too cool to pass up!  They date from the early 1800's

Well, the craft show went so well that we decided to take a space at Four Corner Antiques on 202A in Rochester, NH.  We moved everything in today and here's how it looks.  We were really happy with how it turned out.

What a difference!

Looking at these pictures, we notice our space at Four Corner Antiques is a little empty because of all the items we sold yesterday at the craft fair.  Check out that post to see what the booth would have looked like.  It was the same size space!  We sold alot!

Oh Meadow Muffins!

It was late and we were both a bit punchy after spending several hours a night, for a few days in a row, preparing for our first show, after working our regular jobs all day.  So, you can imagine how two girls who were both a little too caffeinated came up wtih this name...
When we began packaging our chocolate-covered marshmallow cookies, placing them in cellphane bags with the intention of creating a gift-basket-quality treat, I said "Mom, we can't sell these like this.  They look like "you know what"".  She laughed and said "they look like cow patties".  "Meadow Muffins" I said, and we both burst into laughter!  Thus, the "Meadow Muffin" was born!

Farmhouse Finds

Here are some of the "finds" we have discovered so far!  Most are in rough shape...in need re-tiquing!  Check back to see how they turn out.  But for now you'll have to use your imagination :)

This was our practice run at setting up for the upcoming craft fair.  We only have an 8x5 space...tiny!

A really cool old tool chest we found.  Lyn was thinking it would make a great tack box for horse stuff.

Unique galvanized bin

We put these 3 juice bottles into a metal tray and "accidentally" created a great piece that can be used for starting new houseplants from clippings, or can be used as bud-vases.  Makes a unique arrangement.
